Also in autumn 2008 many cultural events are waiting for you at the Kulturforum. The Painting Gallery (Gemäldegalerie) and the Museum of Decorative Arts (Kunstgewerbemuseum) are indeed presenting various special exhibitions as well as great permanent exhibitions for all tastes. From November 2008 until February 2009 we highly recommend the exhibition mix of two very different artists in the New National Gallery where a unique collection of 250 works of the artist Paul Klee ("The Klee Universe", basement) and in the same time the famous installations of Jeff Koons ("Jeff Koons Celebration", main floor) are shown .

Area Ticket Kulturforum
The area ticket which is valid for one day for all venues of the National Museums of Berlin at the Kulturforum costs 8 € (reduced 4 €). It is valid for the Gemäldegalerie, the Kupferstichkabinett, the Kunstbibliothek, the Kunstgewerbemuseum, the Neue Nationalgalerie, and the Musikinstrumenten-Museum. For children and young people under 16 and for all on Thursdays from 2 pm the admission is free (at the Neue Nationalgalerie and the Musikinstrumenten-Museum, on Thursdays from 6 pm).
For the present special exhibitions, there are special admission fees.   more ticket-information

Please keep in mind that the State Museums of Berlin (SMB) are closed on Mondays. On Thursdays you can visit many of them (also at the Kulturforum) for free between 6 and 10 pm. We also recommend the numerous guided tours in the museums.

Our website kulturforum-berlin.info is a private initiative and is therefore a non official information service. Therefore, we cannot give you any binding information about the institutions at the Kulturforum, but we are fond of helping you out with general information.

Museum of Decorative Arts remains open
_______________________________________________

img_kunstgewerbemuseum_355x224.jpg

The Museum of Decorative Arts (Kunstgewerbemuseum) remains open. The plans for redesigning the exhibition rooms have been postponed and for this reason the fantastic collection of decorative arts can be still visited - among others, the Welfenschatz, epoch-making furnitures and fashion. Although looking forward to the realisation of the redesigning-plans in the near future we are glad that, due to the delay of the construction works, one of the most important collections of its kind will be still accessible for the time being.

Imagination and Craft. Cennino Cennini and the Tradition of Tuscan Painting from Giotto to Lorenzo Monaco

This studio exhibition in the Gemäldegalerie presents until the 13th of April some twenty panels and drawings from the 14th and 15th century. The thematic framework is provided by the work of Tuscan artist Cennino Cennini, author of the "Libro dell´ Arte" (" Book of Art"), a late Mediaeval painters´ handbook on the cusp of the Renaissance. Two panels from the collection of the Gemäldegalerie - Old Master Paintings, a "Bishop Saint" and a "Pope Saint", are attributed to Cennini. These, together with the earliest known copy of the "Libro dell´ Arte, form the heart of the exhibition. Further included are works by Giotto, Taddeo Gaddi, Agnolo Gaddi, and Lorenzo Monaco.
