Art impressed by Humboldt
Studies from artists travelling through Middle and South America

The painters Johann Moritz Rugendas (1802-58), Ferdinand Bellermann (1814-89) and Eduard Hildebrandt (1818-69) followed the traces of Alexander von Humboldt travelling through the countries of Latin America. Their scetches and drawings of the South American landscapes and nature - influenced by Humboldt - attracted large attention in Europe at that time. About 120 representative sheets of the collection are going to be presented in the special exhibition paying tribute to the artists as well as to Humboldt himself being the name giver of the currently developed so-called Humboldt-Forum.
